The velvet teddy bear, American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, is back with The Return, his third record and the follow-up to 2004's mostly gospel I Need An Angel. What's Studdard back with, exactly? Soulful, radio-friendly pop songs produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, The Underdogs, Scott Storch and Ne-Yo. Aside from dropping a new album, Studdard recently dropped over a hundred pounds. He is now a vegetarian.
Tijuana-born Frankie J says he's always wanted to appeal to a more mainstream audience than the one he drove to happy hysterics during his stint with the Kumbia Kings a few years back. His third album, Priceless, lets Frankie J take another chance at proving himself to the R&B audience that is currently flippin' to his current single “That Girl." The new album was produced by Stargate, Happy Perez, Mannie Fresh and DJ Clue, among others.
After a busy five-year hiatus, entrepreneur and rapper Sean Combs, now Diddy, is back with Press Play, an album full of collaborations and special appearances by Fergie, Nicole Scherzinger, Christina Aguilera, Ciara, Nas, Cee-Lo, Brandy and Mary J. Blige. After stints in acting, business and just being a bad boy, Diddy’s new album is both a personal return to the charts and a platform for his friends and associates. The album was produced by Kanye West, Timbaland, will.i.am, Just Blaze and Cool & Dre.
Mercury Prize-nominated British electro duo Goldfrapp – diva Allison Goldfrapp and producer Will Gregory – are releasing a collection of remixes from tracks off their Supernature album entitled We Are Glitter. Their electro glam rock gets remixed by hot sh*t electronic artists like Múm, Francis K., Alan Braxe & Fred Falke, Ewan Pearson, DFA, Benny Bennasi and psych rockers The Flaming Lips – who are responsible for much of the last Cafe Tacvba record, among many others.
