He got his start and his nickname spinning in Miami at clubs, foam parties, weddings, and bar mitzvahs. His collection spans over 10,000 albums. He’s all around tech savvy and built a computer lab and TV studio for kids in Miami. Growing up, Frankie experienced plenty of prejudice for his color but says, “Instead of getting pissed off, I flipped it, and turned it into something positive.”
Mr. Needles wants to see more Latinos doing shit everywhere. His advice for making it is to be yourself. Remembering what it was like to play a set at Madison Square Garden: “If you’re wack they’re going to let you know right away and if they love you they’ll love you.” But Frankie Needles is not just looking out for #1 — “this whole Latin movement has been such a boom. It’s our turn.”
